Bhoomika Trust believes that response to disaster is not just about providing relief, it is about a humanitarian response to the affected that looks beyond the immediate suffering, it is about rehabilitation of the affected through their vocation, their dwelling and finally about preparedness and disaster mitigation activity. The Trust aims to build resilient communities in flood prone areas by sensitising them with precautionary measures. All rehabilitation work in the community is about making the community resilient to future disasters.

In November 2016, Bhoomika Trust had brought out a booklet with some simple guidelines for monsoon preparedness and distributed it in affected communities in Chennai before the rains.

Based on Chennai’s repeated encounter with natural disasters like Tsunami, Rains and floods, Cyclone and Drought, the Trust is working on a comprehensive vision to create protocols, best practices as well as ideation on disaster mitigation.
