A social initiative conceptualized and spearheaded by Dr. Nidarshana Pandian and adopted as a collaborative project by Bhoomika Trust

PROJECT SHAKTHI, a social initiative was launched on 4th May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure free access and distribution of sanitary napkins to girls and women who belong to the economically weaker section. The Project also aims to spread awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene among adolescent girls and women. Apart from distribution of sanitary napkins to girls and women, Project Shakthi has also been conducting Quiz series on Instagram to create awareness about the hidden facts and myths about menstruation. The aim of Project Shakthi is to help alleviate the discomfort of young girls and women, who face exclusion from everyday activities and through its campaign, the project aims to aid women in practicing hygienic menstrual practices which will help avoid reproductive tract infections.

Project Shakthi targets to distribute sanitary napkins to 1,00,000 girls and women in the city of Chennai every month through Government Schools and NGOs.
