Cyclone Fengal

We are reaching out for your support to help thousands of families stranded due to the effects of Cyclone Fengal.

This December, the downpour has severely affected Villupuram, Kallidaikurichi , Tiruvannamalai, Pondicherry with unprecedented rains. The immediate relief by Government and local volunteers to reach marooned areas and move people  to relief centres which are operating community kitchens is operational.

Over the years, Bhoomika Trust has realised that the phase following the disaster, when people start going back home to damaged homes and belongings, destroyed livelihoods, damaged school infrastructure, is really the most difficult phase. We have estimated that it takes at least a month to start looking at restoration of livelihood. It is this phase that Bhoomika Trust focuses on. We support ration kits to last them for three weeks, livelihood essentials, clothes etc.

In the next phase we help rebuild schools that are damaged and support affected primary health centres with medical equipment.
